Keeping Your Cool
Inspo for getting dressed for work in the heat
There’s no real story behind this newsletter because we had a mini heat-wave here in NYC and who could think straight??? I mean it was (and will be again) 90something degrees outside, a million on the subway platform, below 0 in the train car and in the office…it could just make you insane!!! So I got some 911 texts from clients about how to deal and I thought it was a perfect opportunity for some inspo to give you a few ideas to keep in your back pocket for summer!
I know some of you have to get Dressed with a capital D for work while others are in a much more casual office or maybe you generally WFH but have to do in-person meetings or a business lunch. Whatever your circumstances there’s definitely something in here for you! I linked a few things where I got the vibes of the inspo pix (for transparency, as you may know, if you buy something through the affiliate links I may receive me a small percentage at no cost to you…thanks in advance😉). Let me know in the comments if there are other recommendations you might need.
Untraditional Suiting: An easier take on the suit…matching pieces in lighter fabrics and maybe the jacket is elbow length or is it a vest? A cropped jacket with a slouchier pant is a super modern Chanel-y way to go. You might want to switch up your bottom half to a sarong-style skirt (an actual sarong works too) or long shorts (if shorts are your jam there’s more here in the last newsletter. Or you could try a bold color or interesting shape to mix it up.

A dress is certainly the easiest way to get dressed in the heat…one & done, as I have said before. So many of my clients love a dress for work…a shirt dress to a shift and whatever sleeve or hem length you want to embrace. Add a jacket or cardigan as needed and mix it up with a menswear-style shoe, flat, or a heel. I have seen some really good ones out there at every price point!

CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT: Viviana Volpicella - her dress reminds me of this Toteme; Ami Paris SS25…kind of like this; via Pinterest…she’s cute ;Stephanie Seymour for US vogue by Pamela Hansen March 1996; Ami Paris SS25; via Pinterest; Akris SS25 - this could work; Maryam Nasser Zadeh in gorgeous gingham…try this one; CO khaki asymmetric hem dress; Shala Monroque
